This Late 1890s Bernard Waist sewing pattern was originally published The Demorest-Ledger Pattern Company

On the original packaging, the garment was described as a " The Bernard Waist gives the new and popular effect, tucked and open in the back. It also has the shirt-waist or Bishop sleeve. The front is tucked like a round yoke and the fullness gathered at the belt. The one-piece back has three tiny plaits at the belt, and there is a fitted lining."

This Bernard Waist pattern was designed to fit the size and shape of an late 1890s woman with 36” bust.
